He was predeceased by: his parents, James Fowler and Blanche Fowler (Smith); his brother William Fowler; his nephew William Walker; and his wife Cecelia "Cindy" Fowler (Kloock).

He is survived by: his children, Cynthia L. Fowler of Latrobe and Donald D. Fowler Jr. (Donna) of Canada; his grandchildren, Ryan and Taryl; his great grandchildren, Dreyton and Justyce; and his siblings, James Fowler (Irene) and Nancy Walker (Gene Roadman).
