He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Geist and Elizabeth Geist (Jeffries); his former wife Lisa Smith; and his son Daniel Geist. He is survived by: his wife Joette Hower of Laporte; his children, Heather Geist of Bucyrus, Sara Smith of Bradenton, Fla., Kristian Geist (Domonica) of Newark Valley, N. Y. and Jesse Geist of Laporte; his daughter-in-law Debbie Geist of Laporte; and his grandchildren, Emily Geist, Eli Geist, Xander Rissmiller, Ruby Rissmiller, Dalyla Rissmiller and Emberly Geist.
