She was predeceased by: her husband Richard R. Merkel; and her parents, Frank Flood and Rose Flood (Corbett). She is survived by: her daughter Anne Marie Garncarz (John); her grandsons, Thomas R. Garncarz (Yiran) and Samuel R. Garncarz; and her sisters, Posie Fitzpatrick, Ginny Kelly, Fran Jack, Betty Ziter, Janet O'Rourke and Joan Ciaburri.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Marie's memory to the Meadowood Benevolent Fund, 3205 W. Skippack Pike, Lansdale, PA 19446.
