He was predeceased by: his wife Janet Eckhart (Scholl); his parents, Edwin Eckhart, Sr. and Anna Eckhart (Fessmire); and his siblings, Violet, Gladys, Lillian, Peggy and Roland.

He is survived by: his children, Sandra Campagna (Peter) of Lansdale and Timothy Eckhart (Tina) of Harleysville; and his grandsons, Timothy D. Eckhart (Emma) of Macungie, Jonathan Eckhart (Christina) of Manayunk and Peter J. Campagna (Chantal) of Hellertown. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
