He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Schmitt and Edna Schmitt. He is survived by: his children, Barbara, Debbie (Nick), Patti (Scott) and David; his grandchildren, Courtney (Jonathan), Kayla (Matt), Alisha (Doug), Tony, Regan and Sophia; and his great grandchildren, Carter, Jonathan and Cooper.

When covid started, it forced him into retirement, begrudgingly.
