He is survived by: his parent Marguerite (Trainor); his wife Kathryn Kochel; his stepchildren, Randy Kochel (Pamela), Nancy Pearce and Tommy Kochel; his siblings, Alan Bookmiller, Mary Lugo (Ed) of Florida and Marla Dochstader (Kurbin) of Florida; and his stepgrandchildren, Christopher, Tyler, Andrew, Blaine, Kathryn, Odilia, Lucien, Dietrich, Thryn and Lorenzo.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Lancaster Liederkranz.
