He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester H. Witmer and Annetta Reese Witmer; and his siblings, Benjamin, Chester, James, Albert, Catherine and William.
He is survived by: his wife Elsie; and his children, Joyce E. Thompson (Gerald, Jr.), James L. Witmer (Bonnie) of Cohutta, GA, Shirley M. Landis (James) of Grovetown, GA and Karen J. Roeder (Brad) of Bayfield, CO. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
