He is survived by: his wife Diane Emily (Merritt); his children, Valerie C. Gathercole (Ian Ronald) of England, Melanie D. Polkosky (Steven) of Tennessee and Timothy L. Gathercole (Shannon Maryland); his grandchildren, Lyndsey Vaughton of England, Sydney, Sean Gathercole of Maryland, Alexander and Sophia Polkosky of Tennessee; and his great grandchild Charlie Vaughton of England.
