With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Harriet W. Maurer of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, born in Conestoga, Pennsylvania, who passed away on December 15, 2023 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, G. Melvin Warfel and R. Alma Foutz Warfel; and her husband David H. Maurer. She is survived by: her daughter Phyllis Farmer Thompson (Curtis Thompson) of Arlington, VA; her stepdaughters, Elizabeth (Thomas Dewhurst) of Beaver Falls and Laura Feola of Royersford; her grandchildren, Rachel Thompson Orfield (Noah) of Nashville, Nathan Thompson of Arlington, VA, Benjamin Dewhurst of Carlisle, Matthew Dewhurst of Philadelphia and Hannah Dewhurst of Pittsburgh; and her cousin Darwin Warfel Eshleman.

“My mother, Edna Vickers, called this morning to tell me of Cuz's passing. For the longest time, I thought her name was Cuz because that is what my mom and dad called her.
