He was predeceased by: his spouse Orphelia Murphy (Getz); his parents, Homer A. Murphy and Mary A. Murphy Clauser (Bollinger); and his son-in-law Frank "Bud" Zieger. He is survived by: his children, Joan Purdy (Frank) of Effort, Janice Finnochio (Richard) of Indian Land, SC, Jeanne Zieger of Alburtis and James F. Murphy Jr. (Patricia) of Effort; his brother Neal Murphy of Kunkletown; and his grandchildren, Emily Purdy, Lauren West (Patrick) and Joel Finnochio (Jennifer). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
