He was predeceased by: his wife Joyce L. Meckes (Kintz); his parents, Adam Meckes and Beatrice Meckes (Kuehner); his son Earl Eric Meckes; and his siblings, Alton Meckes and Irene Hawk.

He is survived by: his grandson Dustin Meckes (Kendra Smiley) of Palmerton.
