He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Persing and Frances Persing (Kio); his daughters, Tessie and Dawn; and his siblings, Claude Persing, Diane Jelliff and Thelma Stewart.

He is survived by: his wife Jennie Persing (Hill); his son Steve Persing of Gettysburg; his grandchildren, Jillian and Dalton Persing; and his brother-in-law Russell Jelliff. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
