With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John W. Snyder of Kittanning, Pennsylvania, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 5, 2024 at the age of 91. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of John W. Snyder to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver "Howdy" Snyder and Oneita Snyder; his siblings, Beverly Myers and Thomas Snyder; and his mother-in-law Iva Norris.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis I. Snyder of West Kittanning; his daughters, Cynthia S. Snyder of Ford City and Rebecca K. Snyder of West Kittanning; his grandsons, Stephen Gilliland (Amanda) and Joshua Gilliland (Samantha) of Kittanning; and his great grandchildren, Caleb Gilliland, Colin Gilliland of Kittanning, Karter Gilliland, Kiptyn Gilliland of Plum, Lucas Gilliland and Avery Gilliland of Kittanning.

Visitation was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, December 10th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home (200 S McKean St, Kittanning, PA 16201). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 10th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Brother's Brother Foundation, 1200 Galveston Ave., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15212 or Light of Life Rescue Mission, 234 Voeghtly St., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15212.

“Phyllis, Cindy and Becky. I was so glad that Rick and I stopped to talk to Johnny and Phyllis a few years back. During my time in Kittanning, Johnny was a strong influence on my life. Softball, Sundays, to our youth trips, he will always be remembered as a person that help me establish my Christian roots. Roots that still are alive today. I can't imagine where I would be without those roots. They got me through my tough times, which include losing my first wife to suicide. .Thank you.”
