He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Shermer and Mary Shermer (Stigers); his former wife Betty; his wife Elizabeth; and his brothers, Donald, William, James, Robert and Charles.
He is survived by: his children, John Shermer (Theresa) of Colorado and Nancy Shermer of Wattersonville; his grandsons, Eric of Annapolis and Steven of Colorado; and his great grandchildren, Alex and Hannah.
