He was predeceased by: his parents, John Mergen and Daisey French; and his brothers, Ronald and John Mergen. He is survived by: his wife Theda Mergen of Kittanning; his children, Scott Mergen of Kittanning, Stacey McDermott of Ford City and Faith Dick (Paul) of Iaeger, WV; and his siblings, Eleanor Shumaker of Ashtabula, Stella Shumaker of Spring Church, James Mergen of Apollo, Rachel Steele of Distant, Abbie Shaner of Kittanning, Danny Mergen of Kittanning and LouAnn Croyle of Kittanning. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 1st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home (200 S McKean St, Kittanning, PA 16201). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 2nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
