He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, William Hughes and Mary Hughes (McGrath); his wife Diana Hughes (Szewczak); his sons, Thomas W. Hughes and Brian M. Hughes; his granddaughter Kaya Gradwell; and his siblings, William Hughes (Arlene) and Janet Diem (Jed).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Thomas' memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
