He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Nield and Pauline A. Nield; his grandparents, Earl, Mildred Powell and Severina Giovinali; his uncle John Nield; his father-in-law Clarence Abbott; and his brother-in-law Mark Abbott.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Nield (Abbott); his children, Nicole Shively (Kevin), Brian Nield (Emily) and Cameron Nield (Melani); his grandchildren, Dawson, Wren, Everett, Warren, Isaac and James; his siblings, Christina Nield, Debra (Nield), Benadum (Gary), Michael Nield (Robin) and David Nield; his nephews, Andrew Borham (Danielle), Jonathon Michael Nield and Brandon Abbott; his brother-in-law Douglas Abbott (Michelle); and his mother-in-law Georgia Abbott Mrs.

In lieu of flowers, Mark asked that donations be made to the ALS Association.
