James Brant Obituary
OBITUARY James E. Brant November 21, 1940 – October 16, 2017 James E. Brant, 76, of Julian, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College. Born on November 21, 1940 in Brothers Valley TWP, he was the son of the late Donald A. and Mildred M. (Weyant) Brant. On May 27, 1961 in Dillon, South Carolina, he married Juanita (Bain) Brant, who survives him at home.
He was a 1958 graduate of Jennerstown High School. James served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961. For his services, he received Parachutist Badge. He went on to work as a heavy equipment operator and foreman and later retired from Ameron Construction. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Arthur Brant (Tammy) of Julian, Melissa Brant (Avery Lee) of Julian, and James Brant (Shari) of Sandy Ridge.
He is also survived by three siblings, Donald D. Brant, of Gray, PA, Kathy Straw, of Gray, PA, and Christopher Brant, of Gray, PA; seven grandchildren, Brett Brant, Nicole Owens, Donovan Brant, Kyle Brant, Terra Haines, Brittany Brant, and Joshua Brungart; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Shirlene Rene Beranty Brant and one sister, Joann Marker.
He was a member of Beams United Church of Christ, now known as Mount Laurel United Church of Christ. Jim enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dog Sparky. Jim also loved to go hunting, camping, boating, dancing and spending time tinkering in the pole building. There will be a public viewing on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 6-8pm with a short service at 8pm with Pastor Ben Lee officiating at Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. at 206 N. Spring Street Bellefonte.
An additional viewing will be held on Friday, October 20, 2017 from 11am-1pm at Mount Laurel United Church of Christ at 1209 Keysertown Road Boswell, PA. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1pm at the church with Rev. Bruce Ashlock officiating. Burial will follow at Beams Cemetery.
