He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Edward M. Downer and Edna Butler Downer; his wife Josephine Downer (Jody); his granddaughter Brynn R. Downer; his stepson Timothy E. Daland (Barbara); and his stepgrandson Tucker Daland. He was also cherished by three sons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Media Youth Center, 1 Youth Way, Media, PA 19063. (formerly known as the Media Boys' Club).
