He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Potts and Alyce Potts Pekala (Berry); and his wife Nancy Potts (Zimmer). He is survived by: his children, Thomas Potts (Paula), Jennifer McCormick (John) and Erin Fetterman (Scott); his stepdaughter Lori; his grandchildren, Kyle, Noelle (Dakota), Allison (Joshua), Brooke, Sarah, Julianne, Katelyn, Lindsay, Lexi, Laci, Ashlyn, Preston and TJ; his great grandchild Karalyn; and his brother-in-law Philip Zimmer (Pamela).
