He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard G. Stager and Theresa Stager (Kist); and his siblings, William (Angela), Robert, Donald and Martha Schutte (Harry).
He is survived by: his wife Carol Cvrkel Stager; his children, James (Alisia) of Pittsburgh, Susan Pavlick (Dan) of Pittsburgh and John of Pittsburgh; and his grandchildren, Aaron, Alexa, Marija, Rylee, Sarah, Garrett and Abigail. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
