He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Kato and Anna Kurilla Kato; and his siblings, Mike "Tata" Kato, Len "Perk" Kato, Steve "Monk" Kato, Anna "Anka" Brunori and Marian DiBlasi.
He is survived by: his children, Joseph Kato (Jennifer Bates) and Karen Kato Chervenak (Louis); his granddaughter Carly Lapiers; and his great grandchildren, Toby and Olivia. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
