Edward Scoblick Obituary

Edward G. "Teddy" Scoblick, 76, passed away from this life at Select Specialty Hospital, Danville, on Easter Sunday. Born September 2, 1945 (VJ Day), he was the son of the late Frank Scoblick and Grace Donnelly Scoblick. He was one of seven children; Frank Scoblick, Johnson City, NY, Grace Johnson (Harold), Clarks Summit, Virginia Rickard (Louis), Elmhurst, and John Scoblick (Kathryn) Austin Texas. He was predeceased by his sister, Anne Shirley and an infant brother Joseph . Teddy attended Scranton Prep, then transferred to Jessup High School, where he was chosen "Class Most Likely to Succeed.".

He also excelled in athletics, playing quarterback for the Jessup Green Wave and pitching for the school's baseball team. He remained an avid sports fan his entire life. Following high school graduation, Teddy was enrolled at Bloomsburg University until his enlistment in the US Army where he served in the 82nd Airborne. He completed a tour of duty in Germany and a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Early on his buddies nicknamed him "Hollywood", a moniker that stuck with him throughout his years in the service.

Teddy's life, though full, was not an easy one. He returned home suffering from what is now known as PTSD, a condition which he battled for decades. Upon his discharge from the service, he resided in San Francisco, then Denver, returning to the Scranton area in 1986. He spent the better part of the last decade at North Penn Manor in Wilkes-Barre. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at North Penn for the kind attention shown to Teddy during the years he lived there. Special gratitude goes to the remarkable care medical care provided by Geisinger Wilkes-Barre and Geisinger Danville for Teddy at the end of his life.

The extraordinary care, professionalism and concern they demonstrated to our brother and to us as a family will never be forgotten. Teddy will be sorely missed by those who knew him. He was blessed with a curious mind, a generosity of spirit, and of course, his mother's smile. Services and interment will be private at the family's request.
