He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert F. Monteith and Pauline E. Monteith (Scruggs); his wife Merlene Rae (Long); and his brother Robert F. Monteith II. He is survived by: his children, David M. (Jeanette) and Shannon C. Monteith; his grandchildren, Angenette Mae, David Robert, Tobias James, Glorianna Rosemary Monteith and Scott Tyler Boele; and his sisters, Sharon Williams (James), Donna Croyle (Dennis), Jo Ann Drake (David) and Karen Coble. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
