He was predeceased by: his parents, John Vettenburg and Virginia Laird Vettenburg; his brothers, Steve, D. J. and Ed Vettenburg; and his brother-in-law Mark Bernosky.
He is survived by: his wife Christie Hammerbeck Vettenburg; his children, Sherrie Slovey (Eric), Tina Vettenburg (Don Long), Richard Vettenburg, Stefanie Miller (Bill) and Brandon Bertch; and his siblings, Dawn Bean, Dolly Murkins, Debbie Bernosky, Donna Mack (Ron) and Cy Vettenburg (Paula). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; also, several nieces and nephews.
