He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph V. Sr. Ponzetti and Ethel Jean Ponzetti (Cook); his sisters, Teresa Ann and Ethel Jean; and his aunt Shirley Mae Maline.
He is survived by: his close friend Darrell Welsh; his sons, Joseph V. Ponzetti III (Jennifer), Aaron Ponzetti and Domenick Ponzetti (Sarah); his grandchildren, Olivia, Alexandria, Joseph IV, Dominico and Lorenzo; his siblings, Nelvia Novak (Tim), William Ponzetti (Dorrain) and Anthony Ponzetti (Sandy); his cousins, Dee and Bob Houser; his sister-in-law Shirley Welsh; his pets, Sissy and Lucky; and also Kathy. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe donated his lungs to the Simmons Center at UPMC for the study of Pulmonary Fibrosis so in lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to them with a check made out to University of Pittsburgh or a charity of one's choice in his memory.
