He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Mains and Marcella Pifer Mains; his son Martin J. Mains; his siblings, Charles Mains, Jr., Kenneth, Paul, David Mains, Anna Marcella Peer (Honey), Donna Giaquinto, Margaret Beckner and Naomi Songer; and his daughter-in-law Geneva Mains.
He is survived by: his children, Diana Jo Auen (Neil), Donald James Mains and Patrick Joseph Mains (Mouly); his daughter-in-law Lisa Mains; and his siblings, Richard Mains and Brenda Keffer. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
