He was predeceased by: his parent Giovanni Battista Carasella; his wife Rose "Ollie" Douds Carasella; and his siblings, Dominic O. S. B., Aloysius O. S. B., Philip, Mary Carasella and Goldina "Goldie" Restauri.
He is survived by: his parent Giacinta Dibenedetto Carasella; his children, Georgia Martin (Robert) of Reading, James A. Carasella Jr. (Marcy) of Greensburg, John R. Carasella (Barbara "Bobbie") of Virginia Beach, Richard M. Carasella (Denise) of Jeannette and Mary Carasella Trowbridge of Indiana; his grandchildren, Christopher, Justin, Courtney, John, Matthew, Stefanie, Travis, Tyler and Amy; and his great grandchildren, Gene, Anthony, Kaya, Zachery, Chloe, Macy, Dillon, Mia, Brandon and Emma. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
