He is survived by: his children, John McElwain (Helen) of Mamont and Sue Miller (Brian) of Westmoreland City; his grandchildren, Dan, Kelly, John and David; his great grandchildren, Brooke, Chase and Ethan; and his pet Cody. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
