She was predeceased by: her parents, Giuseppe Serago and Stella Moffa Serago; her husband James E. "Tex" Harkrider; her sister Cora; her brother-in-law Emile Criner; her brother Frank; and her sister-in-law Laura Serago.
She is survived by: her children, Geralyn Smolka (Steve) of Jeannette, James G. Harkrider (Pamela) of Florida, Mary Jo Bearley (Chris) and Joanne Stryker (Kent) of New Alexandria; her grandchildren, Steve, Mike, Stacey, Alex, Sam, Kate, Nick, Nathan and Zack; her great grandchildren, Jake, Noah, Brecken, Nolan, Soliel and Braxton; and her brother Michael A. Serago. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Carmela Rose "Mel" Serago Harkrider, 94, of Jeannette died on July 7, 2023 in her home, after battling Alzheimer's Disease, surrounded by her loving family.
