He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney Gilbey and Katherine Fahey Gilbey. He is survived by: his wife Marie Hamill Gilbey; his daughter Maureen Smart (Dalton); his grandchildren, Katherine (Matthew), Dalton (Catherine), James, William, Patrick, John Paul, Mary, Martha and Lucy; and his brother Joseph Gilbey.
