Patrick Louis Hruz Obituary

Patrick Louis Hruz of Jacobus, Pennsylvania, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away April 13, 2024, one month shy of his 86th birthday. He was the husband of Dorothy Helen (Lewis) Hruz. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on February 9.

He is survived by his children, Judith A. Hruz of Rockville, Maryland; Donna L. Hruz of Red Lion, Pennsylvania; and Patrick G. Hruz and wife Meredith of York, Pennsylvania. He is predeceased by a daughter, Teresa A. Hruz Dillon, who passed away on May 6, 2014.

He is also survived by his granddaughter, Emily Hruz of Red Lion; and his grandsons, Andrew Dillon of Jacobus and State College, Pennsylvania, and Eric Dillon of York. He is also survived by his step-grandchildren, Elizabeth McElroy and Ryan Baker and wife Nicole. He was the fourth of 10 children of Stephen and Helen Hruz of Dundalk, Maryland. He was predeceased by five of his siblings.

He grew up in Baltimore County, Maryland and attended Dundalk High School.

Patrick worked in pharmaceutical sales and marketing for his entire career. He also dabbled in antiques and collectibles and was well known for his quality merchandise.

He was an avid music lover and record collector, especially music and artists of the 1950's, but his tastes ranged from early rock and roll to music throughout the decades. Patrick loved the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens, and the former Baltimore Colts, and took pride in the history, traditions, and charm of Baltimore. Patrick loved Ocean City and the Eastern Shore of Maryland, where he spent time as often as possible. He loved steamed crabs, oysters, and crab soup.

Patrick cherished his family and took his job as husband, father, and grandfather seriously. He was a great brother, brother-in-law and uncle, and everyone loved "Poppy.". He had many friends, many of whom he knew since childhood. He was a selfless and giving friend. Patrick was kind and thoughtful, with a great sense of humor. He was gentle and loving, and helped people in any way he could.

“I am sad that I have lost my brother to Alzheimer's. He was a good man. One of ten children, he inherited his strong work ethics from our Dad, and kindness, respect and good nature from our Mom. He raised a wonderful family whom he loved dearly. He will be missed. Love, Lorrie xo”
