He was predeceased by: his parents, Wendell Sr. Holmes and Florence White Holmes; his daughter Terri Lynn; and his siblings, Richard, John Holmes, Patricia Stevenson, Shirley Gerard and Virginia McDonough.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Reichard Holmes; his children, Wendell III and Sherri Ann Parry; his sister Susanne Roehlich; and his grandsons, Justin Parry (Andrea), Zachary Parry (Dawn) and Brandon Holmes (Linnea).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
