He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Sharbaugh and Mary Sharbaugh (Ertter); and his siblings-in-law, Ron, Sandy Potonic, Bill and Mary Kay Stock.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Marie Sharbaugh (Potonic); his sons, Rich (Jessica M.), Jason (Julie), Chris (Jessica P.) and Eric Sharbaugh (Abby); his grandchildren, Kendra, Matthew Bass, Richie, Kate, Jason Jr., Ben, Jackson, Emmett, Charleston, Luke and Michael Sharbaugh; his siblings, Carol Charney (Ronald), Jack Sharbaugh (Donna) and Mamie Sharbaugh; his sisters-in-law, Lucille "Lou" Marcuzzo and Joyce Leahy; and his stepbrother Dan Lees (Dian). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Dick to the St. Bernard Catholic School, Tunnel to Towers (t2t.org), or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

“Hello dear family of Dick (Dickie). I am Dick's first cousin, Nancy Sharbaugh Larson, Alvin and Mary's daughter. He was always Dickie. I presently live in Silverton, OR. The last time that I saw him was in 1996, before I moved Dad to Mt Angel, OR, to a care facility. Once, eons ago, when I was visiting with my family, Dick took us to the cabin. I will have a Mass said for him here in Silverton. I am sorry for your loss, wishing you many blessings, Nancy”
