He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Hilliard and Ethel Hilliard (Eckman); his wife Mary Hilliard (Widdowson); and his brother Ernest Hilliard. He is survived by: his sons, Denny Hilliard (Patricia) of Sarasota, FL and Daniel Hilliard (Cheryl); and his sister Alberta Oaster (John). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
