He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin R. Claycomb and Minnie J. Ravenscraft (Stiegers); his siblings, Shirley Claycomb and Dervin Claycomb; and his half-brothers, John William Claycomb and Zane Claycomb.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis M. Claycomb (Allison); his children, Melvin L. Claycomb of Imler, Randy S. Claycomb of Imler, Scott Claycomb of Gates, N. C. and Angela J. Lafferty of Imler; and his half-siblings, Donald Claycomb of Schellsburg, Gloria Gonsman of Claysburg, Marilyn Lemin, Brenda Claycomb of Schellsburg and Cindy Claycomb. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
