He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Zane and Ruth May Shaffer (McGregor); his wife Mary E. Shaffer; his siblings, Paul Shaffer, Marie Leister, Reginia McGregor and Mabel Baker; his son Stanley Shaffer; and his granddaughter Carol Lafferty.
He is survived by: his sons, Lawrence Shaffer (Laura) and Stuart Shaffer (Judy); his daughter-in-law Beverly Shaffer; and his grandchildren, Ruth Deneen (Steve), Anne Wilburn (Denny), Karen Ringler (Steve), Craig Shaffer (Jessica), Levi Shaffer and Rachelle Pensyl. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
