Theresa Simone Obituary
It is in great sadness to announce Theresa A. Simone, age 95, passed away Friday morning, August 21st, 2020. She was born November 3rd, 1924 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of George Washington and Andress Wible. Theresa was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, John J Simone; a daughter, Theresa Simone; and three siblings, Jennifer, Florence and George.
As a teenager she volunteered for the Salvation Army, eventually joining the organization to become the singer for the Salvation Army band. In 1947 she was the final runner up for Miss Philadelphia. After which she was sought after by the Duke Ellington Orchestra to become their lead female songstress. She then went on to get her nursing degree from Trenton State College at the age of 50 and soon after achieved the level of Nurse Practitioner, working until the age of 81.
She was an avid golf and tennis player, she was well read, a traveling enthusiast, spending the last 40 years of her life visiting every continent across the globe where she collected fine antiques and art from her travels. She is survived by her two sons Michael F. Simone 71 and Gail Simone, John J. Simone Jr. 67 and Carol Simone; five grandchildren, Jessica Painter, Rebecca Öztürk, John Simone Jr., Michael Simone Jr., Jaclyn Simone; and eleven great grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m on Thursday, August 27th, 2020 at Kirk and Nice Suburban Chapel 333 W. County Line Rd., Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation and space will be limited due to COVID-19 restrictions.
