He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon, Sr. Lyter and Florence Lyter (Shipe); and his cousins, Barb and Terry Shipe. He is survived by: his wife Maria T. Lyter (Gomez); his cousin Tim Shipe of Iowa; his brother-in-law John Terhune (Zeny) of Hershey; his nephew Michael Terhune (Rebecca) of Baltimore; and his pet Deanna.
