He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Shaner and Blanche Shaner (Craig); his wife Carroll A. Shaner (Vermeulen); his former wife Donna L. Shaner (Reece); his son-in-law David R. W. Taylor; and his siblings, Verus Shaner, Arthur Shaner, Carrie Fry, Archie Shaner, Carl Shaner, Mary Peters, Harland Shaner and Sarah Harman.
He is survived by: his daughters, Paula Taylor of Hughesville and Kellie Gordner (Duane) of Hughesville; his granddaughters, Marissa Taylor (Joseph Gaffney) of Saint Clair, Sarah Taylor of Hughesville and Bailey Gordner of Hughesville; his great grandchildren, Irene and Joey Gaffney; and his friend Paul.
