Mary E Watson Obituary
Mary E. Watson, 80, of Howard, was surrounded by her family when she passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at her home. Born on January 17, 1944, in Bellefonte, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Hazel (Lucas) Smeltzer. On November 23, 1963, in Milesburg, she married Emery O. Watson, who survives at home.
Mary was a 1962 graduate of Bellefonte Area High School. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Bellefonte. She was a homemaker.
Mary's life was centered around her family. She enjoyed playing board games and being with friends. She was an excellent baker and cook. She made the best apple pies and churned her own butter for many years. She was always the first to help anyone in need and ask nothing in return. Although, if you showed up at her house with popcorn or cotton candy, she was super happy.
Mary is survived by her husband; two sons: Thomas E. Watson of Howard and Timothy A. Watson and his wife, Vanita, of Howard; one daughter, Tammy C. Poorman and her husband, Timothy, of Howard; five grandchildren: Tyler Watson of Howard, Emery Watson of Howard, Tyler Mikesell of Renovo, Alicia Folk of Philipsburg, and Ethan Shawley of Howard and four great grandchildren: Lincoln Watson, Hadleigh Shawley, Emma Mikesell, and Camryn Mikesell.
She is also survived by her three brothers: James Smeltzer, of FL, Donald "Butch" Smeltzer of Bellefonte, and John Smeltzer of FL, and one sister, Donna Loupe of FL.
Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her daughter in-law, Karen Watson.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 10-11am, followed by the memorial service at 11am at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg with her brother, Donald Smeltzer, officiating. The burial will be private.
