He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel E. Steele and Rosetta Steele (Shaffer); his son James "Jimmy" Steele, Jr.; and his siblings, Donnie Steele of Hopewell, Gene Steele of Robbinsville, NJ and Betty Lucile Steele of Hopewell.

He is survived by: his children, Samuel W. Steele of Hopewell and Pamela J. (Bryan Zimmerman) of Everett; his grandchildren, Nicholas Steele (Jean) of Cheswick, PA, Erin Reese of Hopewell, Taylor Dupree (Chris) of Bedford, PA and Samantha Steele (Caleb Vuocolo); and his great grandchildren, Nicole, Ryder, Lynden, Isaac, Beau, Naomi and Selah.

Visitation was held on Friday, October 4th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Akers Funeral Home (299 Raystown Rd, Everett, PA 15537). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 5th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Yellow Creek Reformed Cemetery.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org.
