He was predeceased by: his parents, Roe Shepherd and Eliza Shepherd (Tucker); his siblings, Earl, Fred, Willard, Charlie, Mont, Ray, Rosie Stamper and Blanche Greer; his granddaughter Alicia Whisler; and his great grandchild Joshua Broomell.

He is survived by: his wife Frieda (Ward); his children, Steven Shepherd (Linda), Susan Broomell (Donald) and Rita Edwards (Doug); and his sister Hazel Hamm of Honey Brook.
