He was predeceased by: his parents, Florence Rogers and Laverne Richards; his sister Marilyn Richards McGinty; and his sister-in-law Shirley Ramirez. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Richards (Dottie); his son Robert T. Richards, Jr. (Oreanna); and his brothers, Ernesto Ramirez (Ernie) and George Rogers (Theresa). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
