He was predeceased by: his parents, William Bunnell and Martha Bunnell; his wife Shirley; his son Joseph G. Bunnell; his brother John "Jack" Bunnell; and his son-in-law Richard Doherty.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Bunnell (Jane) of Honesdale, Ronald Bunnell (Pam) of Honesdale, Mark Bunnell (Lori) of Honesdale, Paul Bunnell (Michelle) of Honesdale, Marie Doherty and Michelle Blockberger Jr. (John); his daughter-in-law Hertha Kastler of Honesdale; and his children, Sarah Bunnell, Eric Bunnell of Honesdale, Jason Doherty, Mathew Doherty of Honesdale, John Blockberger, III of Colorado, Katelyn Hawley, Jacob Hawley, Caleb Wiggans of Tunkhannock and Vidia Doherty of Honesdale. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
