He was predeceased by: his wife Sandra Stevens; his son Richard Shiner; his parents, Stephen Shiner and Josephine Shiner; and his sister Joanne Kostella.

He is survived by: his daughter Sherri Shiner-Titmus (Randy); his grandson Dylan Titmus (Rachel); his great grandchild Declan; his brother Ron Stevens; and his sister-in-law Mary Rita Jandt. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
