She was predeceased by: her parents, Samuel Crissey and Grace Crissey (Hillegas); her husband George E. Brown; her daughter Georgia Hess; her siblings, Pearl Turner, Earl Crissey, Stella Clark and Fred Crissey; and her half-sister Winifred Weaver.

She is survived by: her children, Gary G. Brown (Virginia) and Karen Phifer (Kenneth); her son-in-law Robert Hess; and her grandchildren, Susan Vollmar, Sharon Martin, Kendra Lappa, Michael Phifer, Brian Hess and Kevin Hess.
