He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Bruce and Helen V. Shaub (Littlefield); his stepfather Harry Shaub; and his sister Edna Traub. He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Peggy" Bruce (Boyer); his children, Robert Bruce (Marcia), Brian Bruce, Robin Fisher (Michael), Eric Bruce and Carol Bruce; his stepchildren, Andrew P. Frengel (Rose) and Elizabeth A. Frengel; and his sister Kay Kilby. He is also survived by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
