He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin C. Smeltz and Ethel Erb Smeltz; his brother Dale R. Smeltz; and his grandson Austin Bates. He is survived by: his wife Doris L. Henry Smeltz; his children, Kay Trout (Paul), Susan Smeltz, Ethel Osborne (Robert), Roy Smeltz and Robert Smeltz (Tracy); and his siblings, Glenn E. Smeltz and Mary Ellen Kipphorn. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
