He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin J. Wheeler and Mildred I. Wheeler (Vought); his wife Joanne D. Walter; and his brothers-in-law, Jack (Carolyn Reed), Robert (Naomi Weyant), Dale Walter and Roger Corle.

He is survived by: his son Craig Wheeler (Karen); his grandchildren, Samantha (William Liscinsky) and Daniel; and his sister-in-law Emily Corle.
